Located in Carpio, San José, Costa Rica. “La Carpio” started as an informal settlement with people with low resources and immigrants. In the last years it has developed to become a huge neighborhood but always with problem of being overcrowded and badly built in terms of structural safety.
The proposal was made under the workshop of Lafarge-Holcim for 2016 and aims to: 1- Solve the spatial problem, giving as much living spaces as possible. 2- Diminish the safety issues by making a more integrated neighborhood life and 3- Providing areas for the people to develop their own little businesses and workshops.
